For over 25 years Big Swim Big Kick has been our signature event representing a community-wide celebration of the power of sports and fitness. Each year we have welcomed thousands of children and their families to Asphalt Green for a day of fun, both in the pool and on Litwin Field.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Asphalt Green’s presence in our community, we announced Big Week! It was a week-long celebration of the power of sports and fitness for our community that showcased the wide range of all that Asphalt Green has to offer.
Our members, our Recess Enhancement Program schools, kids in our community sports leagues, students from our Waterproofing program, and everyone else who’s a part of our wonderful community were all invited to participate. Big Week was about getting all New Yorkers moving!

Sunday, April 23 - Day of Community Service
Nearly 40 volunteers helped us in making our Upper East Side neighborhood cleanup a success. Check out our Facebook album for fun shots of the day!
Monday, April 24 - Membership Appreciation
We wouldn’t be who we are without our wonderful members! Their support allows us to keep all New Yorkers moving. All day Monday, we provided free treats, massages, and a raffle for members to enjoy. Congratulations to the raffle winners!
Tuesday, April 25 - Teamwork Challenge
From March 13 to April 6, we invited schools in our Recess Enhancement Program (REP) to participate in a month-long Teamwork Challenge. They filmed their students playing a teamwork-based game to see who could get the highest score. Check out the winners' video announcement plus our favorite photos from the day!
Wednesday, April 26 - This Is How We Move
How do you move? Wednesday was all about showcasing how New Yorkers move! Our Asphalt Green team hit the streets of New York City to get everyone moving and grooving! View our Instagram reel of New Yorkers joining in on the fun.
Thursday, April 27 - REP Field Day
Our Recess Enhancement Program (REP) gets schoolchildren moving during recess! On Thursday, we invited a few of our REP schools to come to Litwin Field for their own field day. Watch the fun from the day and check out our Facebook album!
Friday, April 28 - Big Kick
We brought the community together for an evening celebration of all things soccer! All families with children aged 6 to 11 werre invited to come to Litwin Field to run around and play a variety of soccer-themed games from 5pm to 8pm. View our Facebook album!
Saturday, April 29 - Big Swim
Kids aged 6 to 11 were invited to dive right in and experience the thrill of a swim meet from 11am to 2pm in our Olympic pool. Kids got official records of their times and received a medal after their lap! View our Facebook album.
