NEW YORK – On Friday, April 29, 2022, New York City sports and fitness nonprofit Asphalt Green will kick off its annual Big Swim Big Kick®. The event will return in-person for the first time since a hiatus beginning in 2020. This year, Big Swim Big Kick® will take place across two days, celebrating the power of sports and fitness and honoring the coaches who make an impact on the lives of their athletes every day. Events include a free soccer festival for kids and a free swim meet hosting over 1,000 kids. A benefit dinner will be held on April 27.

Proceeds from Big Swim Big Kick® support Asphalt Green’s free community programs and scholarships, which will transform the lives of tens of thousands of New York City school children and seniors through sports and fitness.

In 2022, Big Swim Big Kick® will be held in honor of Asphalt Green’s coaches. “This year’s Big Swim Big Kick celebrates what makes Asphalt Green so special – our exemplary coaches who serve the community,” said Caroline Hribar, Co-chair of the Board of Directors of Asphalt Green. “It’s fitting that we honor our coaches. The expertise, commitment, and passion that our coaches bring to Asphalt Green make a profound impact on the lives of tens of thousands of children and adults annually. We look forward to celebrating with them as over 1,000 kids from New York City take part in our events.”

New for this year, events will take place across two days. On April 29, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in soccer-themed activations on Litwin Field at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side campus. These soccer activities are designed by Asphalt Green’s expert coaches to help kids test and demonstrate their soccer skills. Children and their families will also have the opportunity to watch professional soccer freestylers show off their talents.

The next day, April 30, young swimmers will enjoy the thrill of a 25-yard race, complete with starting blocks and a timed finish. The event will take place in the AquaCenter at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side campus. Some of the kids who participate will have learned to swim this year through Waterproofing, Asphalt Green’s nationally acclaimed community program that has combatted childhood drowning through free swim instruction for over 35,000 New York City public school students since 1994.

Big Swim Big Kick® will be held at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side campus, located at 555 East 90th Street. The events are open to all New York City children ages 6 to 11. Parents can register their children to participate in the swim meet at Donations in support of the event and Asphalt Green can be made through
