(New York, NY)—Sports and fitness nonprofit Asphalt Green and ZogSports, America’s most popular social sports community, today announced a partnership to launch new social sports leagues for adults at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side campus starting in January 2018. Featuring soccer, football, kickball, dodgeball, and more, the leagues are expected to attract 4,000 male and female participants of all ability levels on evenings and weekends over the next 18 months.

Building off its existing leagues with 75,000 participating New Yorkers, ZogSports will run the full operations for the leagues, with many of the games hosted at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side sports and fitness campus. Additionally, ZogSports has committed to designating Asphalt Green as the Seasonal Charity of choice once per year, with a minimum donation of $10,000 to support Asphalt Green’s scholarships and community programs, which provide free and low-cost sports, swimming, and fitness programming to nearly 50,000 children and seniors each year across New York City.

“ZogSports shares Asphalt Green’s commitment to sports and community, and we are delighted to partner with them to increase and enhance New York’s adult sports offerings,” said Maggy Siegel, Executive Director of Asphalt Green. “With Asphalt Green’s state-of-the-art facilities and ZogSports’ track record of running first-class leagues, together we will offer a social sports experience that is unparalleled in New York City. In addition, we are grateful for ZogSports’ generous donation to Asphalt Green’s community programs.”

“ZogSports believes life is better with real personal connections, caring communities, and a sense of play, and we’re thrilled to partner with an organization that aligns so well with our purpose,” said Brandon Bitterman, Vice President of ZogSports. “Asphalt Green’s premier fields in a convenient location will be in high demand among our current participants and will allow us to run leagues of unprecedented quality. We’re looking forward to welcoming members of the Asphalt Green community into ours and we’re excited to watch thousands of new friendships develop across the leagues.”

League games will take place year-round on the 361’x210’ outdoor FieldTurf® field and the 72.5’x45’ indoor FieldTurf® field at Asphalt Green’s 5.5-acre campus, overlooking the East River at 555 East 90th Street.

Registration for dodgeball, football, kickball, and soccer seasons beginning in January are open now at www.zogsports.com.

ZogSports’ $10,000 donation to Asphalt Green will come through ZogSports’ Seasonal Charity Partner program. Every ZogSports team gets to choose a charity to play for at the beginning of each season, and the league champions get money donated to their charity. If a team does not select a charity, they default to playing for the Seasonal Charity Partner. Asphalt Green will be the Spring Seasonal Charity Partner in 2018 and 2019.

In 2017, ZogSports donated $110,000 to various teams’ charities. Since its launch in 2002, ZogSports has donated over $3.4 million to charity thanks to its caring teams.

Asphalt Green’s free and low-cost community programs include Waterproofing, which provides water safety and swim instruction to public school students; the Recess Enhancement Program, which provides structured, active-play recess at local elementary schools; and Community Sports Leagues for middle school students from low-income communities.

About ZogSports

ZogSports is America’s most popular social sports community, with over 100,000 players forming millions of new friendships every year. After his close call on September 11, 2001, Robert Herzog was inspired to create an organization which brought like-minded people together to have fun, give back and create community. He identified a need amongst New York’s young professionals for better organized sports leagues and more natural social interactions outside of the workplace. Plus, he wanted to tap into the charitable spirit which pervaded the city following 9/11. Today, ZogSports brings together over 100,000 players in six cities and has donated more than $3.4MM to charities selected by winning teams. www.ZogSports.com
