Halloween may be focused on tricks and treats, but there’s also room for physical activity! Our Recess Enhancement Program (REP) coaches have the perfect game for your little monster. Round up the kids for a game of Monster Mash-Up.
Who: Grades 3 to 5
Time: 10 minutes+
Where: Small playground
4 – 6 cones
Use cones to create boundary.
HOW TO PLAY:
- Make a group of four! You will make a monster with your bodies.
- Your monster will be made up of specific body parts. Example: Make a Monster Mash-Up of two hands and five feet.
- When your monster is complete, make a monstrous face.
- Keep playing with different students and mash-up combinations.
Use small groups of students in beginning rounds.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION TIP:
For each round, groups must be made up of different students to promote inclusion and social bonds.
Use smaller pairings of students when in smaller spaces.
PLAY: REP IT OUT
EASY: Create Monster Mash-Ups with two students.
MEDIUM: Create Monster Mash-Ups with three to four students.
HARD: Create Monster Mash-Ups with more than five students.
