Q: What inspired or motivated you to run the NYC marathon?
A: As a New Yorker I always watched the race, whether that be on TV or in person. It is such an inspiring and emotional event that I've always wanted to be a part of. I'm so excited that I get to experience the 50th anniversary of this race while raising money to help kids have access to sports and fitness.
Q: Why did you want to run with Team Asphalt Green?
A: I love the community Asphalt Green has created and the mission to provide sports and fitness to the New York City community at all age levels. This helps folks develop physically and socially in a safe and happy environment.
Q: What do you love about running?
A: I love running because of the feeling after! When you go into a hard run or a long workout thinking, “can I do it?” Then you do it and it feels amazing. It's like these little personal victories after every workout or race.
Q: How do you stay motivated during training?
A: I stay motivated during training by keeping focused on the end goal. Some days it's easy and others it's hard, but always having a clear goal to remind you why you are doing this.
Q: Why are sports and fitness important?
A: Fitness changed my life. I grew up playing soccer and the team environment, the structure, and hard work set the tone for every other thing I do in my life today. Running has taught me how to self-motivate and get comfortable being uncomfortable. These are fundamental lessons I learned through sports and fitness that apply to everyday life.
Q: What songs are on your running playlist?
A: So many songs! I rely heavily on a mix of all genres.
