The Asphalt Green Masters Swim Team traded winter coats and gloves for sunshine and swimsuits for its annual destination training trip. The team kicked off 2017 in Boca Raton, Fla., with an adventurous squad of Masters members from January 18 to 22.
With a scenic background, athletes swam twice a day. The team spent about 10 hours in the pool over the course of the trip. Sessions focused on speed as well as technical drills, including turns and body position, which are more difficult to work on during the busy work week.
Of course, there was plenty of time to recharge. During breaks between practices, some swimmers relaxed on the beach while others explored local museums.
After many intense training sessions, the trip ended on a high note with a 1-mile ocean swim race along the shore of Ft. Lauderdale’s beach. The atmosphere was fun and energetic, and our swimmers enjoyed the course and the competitive spirit.
The team is already thinking about next year’s trip. Scroll through pictures from Boca Raton above, and stay tuned for our next tropical destination!
