When Krystal Lara steps to the starting blocks at a swim meet, all eyes are on her. The Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Swim Team member qualified for Olympic Trials with a time of 1:03:28 in the 100-meter backstroke. For the past three years, Krystal has seized her opportunity to swim on a scholarship with the AGUA Swim Team. Through work ethic, sheer will, and determination to succeed, she earned a spot at the Olympic Trials and a scholarship to continue her swimming career at Northwestern University in the fall.
We are so proud of Krystal and can’t wait to watch her fulfill one of her dreams at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., this summer. Read about her journey to success in The New York Times.
