The smallest members of Asphalt Green’s community came together in a big way during our annual Coins for Campers fundraiser.

Campers emptied their piggy banks to support our Summer Day Camp Scholarship Fund, raising $25,605.53 to give more kids across the city the summer camp experience. The whole organization was inspired by the campers’ efforts, and Asphalt Green staff contributed to the cause, bringing the grand total to over $30,000!

Last year the fundraiser brought in a record-setting $22,000 (raised by campers alone). The bar was set high to top that total, but campers at both our Upper East Side and Battery Park City campuses rose to the occasion and shattered that figure by over $3,000.

It was thrilling watching the coins come in and the total rise each day. A friendly competition was in place among the camp divisions with a prize on the line for the group that raised the most at each campus.

This year’s winners:

  • Blue Jay 1 (Upper East Side)
  • Gummy 4 (Battery Park City)

Congratulations to our winners! Blue Jay 1 group experienced the Shark speed boat thrill ride adventure, roaring around the city harbor in a shower of waves. Thanks to the generous donation from New York Water Taxi, our campers loved the experience! The Gummy 4 group was also treated to a sweet surprise at Chocolate Works, becoming chocolatiers for a day. We thank both locations for being great hosts.

A big thank you is also in order for all of our campers for supporting our scholarships and giving more kids the opportunity to experience the magic of summer camp.
