Shernel Alexandra

Certifications:

Shernel started teaching water exercise in 2014. A former competitive swimmer, Shernel teaches a form-focused, technique-driven class. He encourages participants to be open minded about trying new exercises and hopes they leave class with more confidence. Shernel’s favorite part about teaching is seeing students appreciate the benefits of water exercise.

 

 

 

Brad Cole

Experience: Brad joined the Asphalt Green staff in 2000. His coaching and teaching career started in 1989 and includes leading high schools and Masters teams. He has also presented at international swim seminars. Brad believes water sports are invaluable as you age for fitness, balance, health, and happiness. He loves the energy he feels from participants when they accomplish new skills in class.  
Sports and fitness has saved my life, it's given me health, happiness, serenity, friends, a second career.

 

Blythe Knapp

Experience: Blythe joined the Asphalt Green staff in 2004. She was a lifeguard in high school and became interested in aquatic instruction for rehabilitation. Blythe enjoys helping people feel better about themselves. Her teaching philosophy is to do what you can each day to make yourself stronger and healthier. Exercise keeps you going, both in mind and body.

 

 

Kat Knight

Kat Knight started teaching water exercise in 1996. She has been swimming off the shores of Long Island since childhood and continues to practice in open water today. Kat applies her expertise in Pilates to her water exercise classes. Her movements focus on posture while improving strength and flexibility.  She keeps the energy upbeat and fun and encourages laughter during her classes.

 

 

 

Nathan Palmer

Experience: After a near-drowning experience, Nathan learned to swim as a teenager for survival. He discovered he loved the water and became an instructor at Asphalt Green in 1998. Nathan enjoys changing people’s lives through exercise. He hopes that students will take something positive from his classes and use it in their everyday lives.

 

Twain Revell

Twain started teaching water exercise in 1990 and joined the Asphalt Green staff in 2005. She was introduced to swimming as a low-impact exercise after she was injured in a car accident. Twain loved it so much she pursued teaching. She enjoys inspiring students to adopt a positive outlook on life and helping them improve agility and stamina. No two classes are alike, so students learn something new each session.  

 

 

Malissa Young

Malissa has been teaching aquatic exercise since 2005. Her water yoga class focuses on the mind-body connection. She creates an environment in the pool where participants feel calm while building strength and flexibility. Malissa’s goal is for students to leave class happy, relaxed, and more energized than when they arrived. Her favorite part about teaching is seeing students return week after week with smiles on their faces.

 

Rebecca Zortman

Experience: Rebecca has been teaching water exercise classes since 2002. Her classes focus on setting the foundation to maintain a healthy lifestyle while building strength, flexibility, and confidence.  Rebecca’s fitness philosophy is you get out of it what you put into it. Her favorite part about being an instructor is watching her students improve week after week.
