Swim Academy: CORE

Ages: 5-16 Swimming

With small class sizes, older kids and teens can build or refine their technical skills, stamina, and endurance.

AGUA Swim Academy’s Core Classes are designed to elevate young swimmers’ foundational skills. Targeted for ages 5-16, these classes build upon essential swimming techniques, focusing on refining stroke mechanics, enhancing endurance, and increasing water confidence.

With progressive instruction, our core levels guide students from beginner skills to advanced techniques, ensuring they master the fundamentals before moving on to more challenging strokes and distances.

Please note: AGUA Swim Academy does not provide make-up lessons for missed swim lessons.

Core levels

Core Level 1

Young students in Core Level 1 will continue to refine their strokes and advance their skill sets for water safety, body awareness, and stroke mechanics for backstroke and freestyle, including bi-lateral breathing. 

Prerequisites:

  • Completed Pre-School Level 3 or Intro to Swimming
  • Perform freestyle & dolphin kick with kickboard
  • Perform side-breathing for freestyle
  • Perform backstroke with straight-arm recovery

Core Level 2

Students in Core Level 2 will become more precise and well-rounded swimmers. Instructors will continue to advance swimmers’ understanding of lane etiquette through exposure to circle swimming and more reps during each session.

Prerequisites:

  • Passed core level 1
  • Perform freestyle, backstroke, and dolphin kick with and without kickboard
  • Understand motor patterns for breaststroke and butterfly

Core Level 3

Students in Core Level 3 will continue to refine and advance their skills for all four strokes and kicks as well as develop competitive skills such as circle swimming, underwater streamline dolphin kicks, flip turns, and forward dives. 

Prerequisites:

  • Passed core level 2
  • Perform freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly
  • Perform basic kick motions for breaststroke with a kickboard an in streamline
  • Perform circle swimming for freestyle and backstroke
