Social Media Coordinator (temporary)

Are you a social media maven? Can you craft compelling content across different media and platforms tailored to a variety of audiences? Do you have experience with Hootsuite, Canva, or Meltwater? Asphalt Green is looking for a creative and organized social media specialist with one to two years of experience who is interested in a six-month assignment with our organization. Asphalt Green is one of NYC’s premier sports and fitness nonprofits. Our mission is to improve the health and fitness of all New Yorkers, regardless of age, ability, or economic background.

As part of our dynamic marketing department, you’ll be responsible for representing our organization to the public on all social media channels. You will be expected to maintain Asphalt Green’s brand voice and design language in all external communications.

You must be fully vaccinated and willing to work on-site for two weeks initially, with a transition to a hybrid schedule. While you work at Asphalt Green, you will enjoy free access to our world-class fitness centers and pools.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing and curating engaging content for social media platforms in collaboration with the Associate Director of Marketing
  • Assisting in the creation and editing of written, video, and photo content
  • Maintaining a unified brand voice across different social media channels
  • Collaborating with the marketing team to create a social media calendar
  • Monitoring social media channels for industry trends
  • Interacting with users and responding to social media messages, inquiries, and comments
  • Reviewing analytics and compiling reports on key metrics
  • Assisting in the development and management of social media marketing and influencer marketing strategies
  • Other administrative tasks as needed, including but not limited to basic graphic design, organizing marketing files, and organizing archives



  • Strong photography skills and some experience with videography
  • Strong understanding of and familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
  • Strong copywriting and copyediting skills with a special emphasis on writing for social media
  • Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
