The locker rooms at Asphalt Green’s Upper East Side campus are getting complete overhauls! You asked for upgrades, and we are making them happen. The $2 million renovations, partially funded by the city, are set to begin in two phases starting soon. Whether getting ready for your day post workout, transitioning from work to swim, or decompressing in our sauna, we know you’ll love our locker room’s new, luxurious feel.


Here are the upgrades in store:

Phase One: Guest Locker Rooms and Family Changing Rooms (on main level)

  • Seven gender-neutral family changing rooms with direct access to the pool deck. Two of these rooms include showers. 
  • Upgraded sinks with automatic faucets and soap dispensers
  • New vanities and mirrors with improved lighting to help you look your best
  • Slip-resistant, durable flooring
  • Eco-friendly water fountain with bottle fillers to help you stay hydrated at all times


Phase Two: Member Locker Rooms (on lower level)

  • Modern and more spacious look and feel with new fixtures and warm lighting
  • New countertops, wood-inspired cabinets, and sinks with automatic faucets and soap dispensers
  • Expanded vanities with new mirrors and lighting
  • Full-length mirrors
  • Individual floor-to-ceiling shower stalls with frosted glass doors and new fixtures complete with luxury shower gels and lotions
  • Slip-resistant, durable flooring
  • Improved ventilation to keep air fresh 
  • Relax and recharge in new steam and sauna rooms
  • Stay connected with secure phone and tablet charging stations



Q: How long will the renovations take?

A: Renovations will take place in two phases. Each phase is expected to take three months. Phase one will be complete mid November. Phase two will begin summer 2018, so the project will be complete by fall 2018. 


Q: Will I still be able to use locker rooms during renovations?

A: Yes, one set of locker rooms will be open. ALL VISITORS (members and guests) will use the member locker rooms during phase one and the guest locker rooms during phase two.


Q: I have a reserved locker. How will this be affected during renovations?

A: Your locker will not be affected during phase one. You will be contacted regarding your locker rental before phase two begins.


Q: I have limited mobility. How will I access the pool?

A: Take the elevator from the C level to the first floor, and a guest services representative will escort you to the deck through the teaching & exercise pool entrance.


Q: Will there be increased security while all visitors are using the same locker room?

A: Yes, there will be an attendant in the locker room at all times for additional security and to ensure our high standards of cleanliness are maintained. If you forget a lock, a limited number of will be available to borrow at the front desk on the first floor of the AquaCenter using a valid ID. 


Q: Will renovations affect facility hours and programs?

A: No, our facilities and programs will run as regularly scheduled.
