Do you have a beach getaway planned this summer? Between your rest and relaxation, there are plenty of ways to keep active at the beach. Whether you’re looking to stay on track with your fitness or have some fun with friends and family, having a few beach games in your arsenal can help you make the most of your time on the sand.

Plan for your trip by checking out our top three beach games!

Spikeball

Spikeball is a fast-paced, energetic game that has taken beaches by storm. Played with two teams of two players each, the objective is to bounce the ball off a small circular net and prevent the opposing team from returning it. Players have three hits to control the ball and bounce it back onto the net. The game continues until one team fails to return the ball and the opposing team earns a point.

Spikeball combines elements of volleyball and four-square, providing an intense workout that challenges your agility, hand-eye coordination, and reaction time. With its portable net and compact size, Spikeball will fit perfectly in your trunk before you take off on your coastal adventure.

Paddleball

Paddleball is a timeless and widely popular beach game that can be played solo, with two players, or in doubles. All you need are paddles (usually wooden or plastic) and a small rubber ball. The objective is simple: hit the ball back and forth without letting it touch the ground.

If you’d like to play competitively, each player scores a point when the opponent fails to return the ball. The game can be played to a predetermined number of points, such as 11 or 21. However, you can still have a blast just rallying back and forth with a friend!

Paddleball is suitable for people of all ages and skill levels, so you can play with the whole family while getting in a solid cardiovascular workout. Give it a shot to see why beach regulars never travel without paddles!

Beach Frisbee

Beach frisbee is an effortless, portable, and extraordinarily fun way to get active at the beach. It is an especially great choice if you’re traveling in a pack and want to get the entire group involved.

In beach frisbee, the objective is to pass the frisbee to your teammates until you reach your opponent's end zone and score a point, similar to American football.

However, players cannot run while holding the frisbee; they must establish a pivot foot and pass it to another teammate to advance through the field. The first team to reach a set number of points, often 15 or 21, wins the game.

Beach frisbee provides a great cardiovascular workout with the soft sand offering an extra challenge as you move. Pack a drawstring or beach bag with a frisbee to make your beach day a blast!
